Foraging as Stewardship: Dame's Rocket // 5.11.24

  • Friends Of Princeton Open Space 57 Mountain Ave Princeton, NJ, 08540 United States (map)

Join FOPOS and local experts Matt and Shannon for a Dame’s Rocket forage walk on Saturday, May 11th at the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve in Princeton.

In this engaging event, participants will delve into the world of the invasive plant, Dame's Rocket. Led by knowledgeable guides, you'll learn how to identify this invasive species -- and then we will get harvesting! We will work to remove Dame's Rocket in our pollinator garden since it is out-competing our native plants and decreasing the diversity.

Prepare your taste buds for a culinary adventure! Sample a delectable recipe (compliments of Matt and Shannon) featuring Dame's Rocket, showcasing its potential as a flavorful ingredient in your kitchen. A recipe card will be included so that you too can make this unique and delicious recipe at home. Feeling creative? Channel your newfound knowledge and inspiration into crafting a beautiful throw-away bouquet (perfect for Mother's Day), showcasing the vibrant colors and textures of Dame's Rocket.
