Due to the current limitations for public gatherings, we are unable to host our annual #OptOutside* event at the Mountain Lakes House this month. While we are disappointed, we do encourage all of you to continue the tradition by opting to spend time outdoors.
On Friday, November 27, we invite the community to take walks and hikes enjoying fresh air and the beauty of nature in the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve and other areas preserved by Friends of Princeton Open Space. We love seeing your photos on the trails — remember to tag us on Facebook and Instagram @ foposnj.
Before you head out for your walk, consider taking supplies for a Tree Bark Rubbing activity — fun for all ages. Bark rubbings are a simple way to appreciate the patterns + textures of tree bark that can easily be turned into a work of art or collage using different colors. Here are simple instructions for Tree Bark Rubbing.

November 27 is the kick-off to Friends of Princeton Open Space’s Annual Give Thanks for Nature Photo Contest. Professional and amateur photographers are invited to enter. Here are the details and submission information for our Photo Contest 2020. Thank you to REI for sponsoring our photo contest by providing prizes to the winners.
*OptOutside is a movement originated by REI to encourage people to spend time in nature rather than crowded stores on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving.
