Perspectives on Preservation
Photo Contest Winners 2023
While work weeks and school schedules have returned to “normal,” it is clear our community continues to enjoy spending time in nature year-round. The appreciation for Princeton’s beloved Greater Mountain Lakes Recreation Area is evidenced by the breadth of subjects captured in the photos submitted to this year’s Perspectives on Preservation photo contest.
With the change in parameters for the contest, (including expanding the geographic range), the judges enjoyed a four-season view of the beauty and detail that photographers captured in the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve and surrounding areas. Of course, because this is a contest, they had to select the “top three” photos from the 103 entries. Those winners received prizes generously donated by our contest sponsor, REI Princeton.
A heartfelt thanks to our friends at REI Princeton for their continued support of our photo contest. We kick off the contest each year on the day after Thanksgiving in celebration of REI’s annual Opt Outside initiative, which “recognizes the value of time spent outside and the impacts it has on our well-being.”
With much appreciation, we thank all of you who submitted photos to the contest. We encourage professionals and amateurs to continue to snap and save photos on walks, hikes, and bikes in the Mountain Lakes Preserve. We’d love to see them next year!
